Assistant Director - Programming and  Engagement (Full Time)

Salary meets the NJLA minimum for a Supervising Librarian, commensurate with experience
35 hours/week, including non-traditional hours based on operational needs and to meet the needs of the community.

Seeking a skilled library professional with experience planning and managing a cohesive library events, marketing, and outreach program. The position may be in-charge of the Library in the Director's absence and will be required to work directly with the Administrative Team (Director and Assistant Director – Technology & Collections), Board of Trustees and Borough Officials. Areas of responsibility include programming, community outreach, marketing & public relations and staff supervision. 
Requirements include: 4+ years’ experience with increasing responsibilities in a public library setting with at least 2 years of experience as a supervisor. Experience with events management experience and using integrated library systems and content management systems.

Minimum Education: MLS/MLIS degree from an accredited ALA college or university. Must possess or be eligible for a Professional Librarian’s Certificate issued by the New Jersey Department of Education.

Discovery Archivist (Full Time)

Salary meets the NJLA minimum for a Senior Librarian, commensurate with experience
35 hours/week, including some Saturdays each month as part of a rotation.

Seeking a Discovery Archivist to join the library’s Collections Department, specializing in Digital and Special Collections. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Collections and Technology, the Archivist works primarily at the History Center and is responsible for digitizing, preserving, arranging, and describing a wide range of materials relating to the history of Avalon, NJ and making them digitally accessible in an engaging and understandable way for a diverse range of patrons.
Requirements include: Minimum of 2 years of progressive work and experience in a library, archive or museum. May substitute an advanced degree in a related field in lieu of experience. Experience with library and collection management systems, such as Innovative Millennium/Sierra and PastPerfect. Minimum Education: MLS/MLIS with Archives concentration from an ALA-accredited institution or a related graduate degree. May be able to substitute professional experience in lieu of archives concentration.
