Women’s contributions in World War I led to greatly expanded roles in World War II. Although women were recognized for their participation in WWI, in the Second World War, they were still met with skepticism, discrimination and even harassment. Even so, their contributions were significant and led to changes in traditional roles in peacetime society and how they could serve in the military.
