Library Information
The Avalon Free Public Library is open to all. Library cards are available for free to Avalon residents and property owners and to residents of Cape May County. All other library cards are $20 per person. Members of the following libraries can also receive free cards:
Absecon, Margate, Ocean City, Northfield, Linwood and Atlantic City
The library offers free public computer terminals with internet access and a free wireless network. Stop in and log on!
For the visually impaired, we have computers with large screens and a video magnifier–courtesy of the Avalon Lions Club–that can be used to read almost anything!

How to obtain a library card
Any permanent resident or property owner in Avalon may obtain a free library card by demonstrating proof of residence or ownership of property.
Family members of residents or property owners of Avalon may be issued a free card providing the resident or property is a patron of the library and agrees to the membership of the family member. A signature is required by the resident or property own.
Permanent residents of Cape May County may obtain free library cards by demonstrating proof of residence and presenting ID.
The Avalon Free Public Library maintains reciprocal borrowing arrangements with the following libraries: Absecon Free Public Library, Atlantic City Free Public Library, Linwood Free Public Library, Margate Public Library, Ocean City Free Public Library, and the Otto Bruyns Public Library of Northfield. Persons who have a valid library card at a reciprocating library may obtain an Avalon library card . See the library staff for procedure.
Seasonal renters of Avalon and Cape May County properties may obtain a temporary card for $20 with proof of permanent address, ID, and their rental agreement. The card is good for one year.
