Barrier Island Writers and Library Cosponsor Poetry Contest |
The winners of the Barrier Island Writers / Avalon Free Public Library Poetry Contest were announced on January 28. The contest was open to middle school students (grades 5-8) from Stone Harbor, Avalon, and Sea Isle City. Karen A., student at the Sea Isle City School won top honors with her poem titled Sunrise. Allan W. from Avalon Elementary School received honorable mention for his poem Rainy Day. Both students received gift certificates to a local book store. Their poetry will appear in the next publication of the Barrier Island Writers.
